Snow is no problem for Kew Gardens

Published: Tuesday 17th of February 2009

Kew Gardens fared well during the recent spell of bad weather, with its plants more glorious than ever, according to one report.

One man who would know is Tony Kirkham, head of Kew's arboretum, who tells the Daily Telegraph that 2009 would be a great year for the gardens.

"Established plants, which have built up some thick wood, should have a good chance," he tells the paper.

Tony expects Mediterranean plants such as olives to do particularly well, which is sure to be a treat for anyone visiting the top London attraction this year.

A "proper winter" this year is sure to give the plants at Kew Gardens a helping hand, the expert reveals to the publication, with "nice surprises" hiding around every corner.

LondonPass holders can see Kew Gardens for themselves, saving £13 per adult and getting an additional ten per cent discount on entry to Kew Palace.
