London attractions: See winter flowers at the Chelsea Physic Garden

Published: Friday 14th of January 2011

Families seeking things to do in London could visit the Chelsea Physic Garden next month to get a look at some of the first flowers of the year.

The garden, which dates back to 1673, is holding special opening Snowdrop Days on February 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th where breakfast, brunch, stew and mulled wine will be served along with guided tours.

A collection of spring-flowering bulbs will also be on display, while the shop will be selling unusual plants to keep as souvenirs.

More than 75 species of snowdrop can be found in the Chelsea Physic Garden, which has even published a book detailing Britain's fascination with these delicate winter flowers.

While at the garden, London pass holders could find out more about the ancient attraction with its famous Historical Walk, which is laid out along the western side to detail the work of people involved in creating it over the years.
