Kid's Kews aims to "fire" the imagination of children
Published: Monday 11th of August 2008
Kid's Kew, a guidebook to Kew Garden's design specially for children, is one of the great ways of helping young people get the most out of their experience at the top London attraction.
According to the East London and West Essex Guardian, the book includes 60 stickers, various activity suggestions, a multitude of facts and information about the flora and fauna on display, all of which aim to "fire children's imaginations".
Among the facts is the story of how the garden's so-called Unlucky Tree acquired its moniker (a small plane crashed into it in the early 1900's and the tree has also been struck by lightning twice).
While visiting the gardens, children can pretend to be insects and learn more about the science behind processes such as pollination by climbing inside a plant.
