Kew to support Thinking Walks
Published: Tuesday 10th of February 2009
One of London's top outdoor attractions is to support a new activity for children highlighting the work of Charles Darwin.
Thinking Walks, an ideal companion to the organisation's Great Plant Hunt, invite younger visitors to enjoy a stroll in the great outdoors, mirroring the 'thinking paths' used by the famous scientists while he pondered his study of the evolution of life on Earth.
On a walk guests move between a series of 'thinking points', each of which has a question to answer.
Such questions include 'How can grass keep growing even though it has been nibbled very short?', plus there are tasks to complete such as 'Look for leaves of different shapes'.
Kew Gardens is backing the nationwide programme of Thinking Walks and hopes that community groups and youth organisations, like the Cubs and Brownies, will set up their own events right across the UK.
LondonPass holders can enjoy general admission to The Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew for free, a saving £13 for adults.
