Kew offers chance to burn off those Christmas calories

Published: Wednesday 7th of January 2009

Kew Gardens is offering the chance for keen horticulturalists to learn about their fascinating plants on display as well as get some important exercise following the festive season.

On January 22nd the famous gardens will host its annual Winter Warmer Walk. Commencing at 11:00, tutor Paul Reader will guide members of the public around Wakehurst Place, gaining a fascinating insight into the stunning botanical life on display at this formal yet beautiful part of the attraction.

A highlight of the walk is the Winter Garden, which shows that even in this cold and unforgiving season some stunning plant life still flourishes, in spite of the inclement conditions.

While the walk might help those who over-indulged a little during the Christmas holiday, Kew's welcoming restaurant will of course be open to provide warming sustenance such as soups and sandwiches to keep the cold weather at bay after the event has finished.

LondonPass holders can gain free general admission to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, saving £13 for adults, in addition to a ten per cent discount on entry to the nearby Kew Palace.
