Kew Gardens "a great institution"

Published: Wednesday 22nd of July 2009

People should do all they can to support Kew Gardens as it is a "great institution", one gardening expert has said.

The London attraction is more than just a place to visit, Monty Don told the Daily Mail, with experts doing their bit to help reduce the effects of climate change.

Professor Mark Chase, who is in charge of the Jodrell Laboratory at Kew, said: "We know quite a bit about what plants do, but remarkably little about how or why they do it."

The place also has great historical intrigue, Monty revealed, with the likes of Capability Brown, James Wyatt and William Kent all making their mark on Kew Gardens throughout the centuries.

Now in its 250th year, people can make sure they join in the celebrations at Kew Gardens with the London Pass, which gives free entry to this great attraction.

Adults can save £13 on the cost of a ticket, making the experience all the more affordable.
