Eco Art at London Zoo

Published: Tuesday 3rd of June 2008

A polar bear cub made of plastic bags and a shark made of discarded hubcaps are among a new collection of animal sculptures on display at London Zoo.

The top London attraction is taking on the ethos that modern is rubbish with its Love London Recycled Sculpture Show, featuring 21 remarkable sculptures designed by Heather Jansch and Emma Fenelon..

Sophie Townsend, sustainability manager at London Zoo, said that the sculptures were designed to provoke debate about human squander and its effect on the world around us.

"There is no better setting for this than surrounded by some of the most endangered creatures on earth – many if which are close to extinction because of man’s insatiable lust for fresh resources," she commented.

The Love London Recycled Sculpture Show, which kicks off a three-week festival of eco-events, will run until September 5th.

London Pass holders can receive free admission to London Zoo.
