Visit the rainforest lookout at ZSL London Zoo

Published: Tuesday 12th of August 2008

Visitors to ZSL London Zoo can now explore what life is like in the canopy of the world's lungs, also known as the rainforest.

The attraction's new Clore Rainforest Lookout allows visitors to watch small monkeys moving throughout the treetops, while birds fly between the branches.

The aim of the attraction is to remove the barriers between animals and visitors by creating a basement-to-rooftop South American rainforest beneath a translucent roof.

In the Discovery Zone section of the exhibit, children can learn more about the animals and the habitats that sustain them.

According to the Rainforest Foundation UK, an acre of rainforest is lost every second somewhere in the world due to deforestation. This not only leads to the extinction of many species of animals, but also destroys the communities of indigenous people who have lived for thousands of years in the rainforest.

London Pass holders can get free entry to ZSL London Zoo.
