Huge turnout for seasonal jobs at London Zoo

Published: Thursday 12th of February 2009

As a visitor attraction, London Zoo attracts guests in their millions each and every year but it was the queue forming at the recruitment office that caught people's attention this week.

More than double the expected number of applicants waited patiently outside the zoo's offices, all trying to obtain a much sought-after job for the summer season.

Normally, anywhere up to 150 people apply for the jobs, which do not involve contact with animals but are located in the gift shop or canteen, but some said up to 400 people made their way to the Regent's Park location on Wednesday (February 11th).

The lengthy queue marked the annual open day for applications to work at the zoo, which results in a large percentage of the workforce that meets visitors' needs over the busy summer season.

LondonPass holders can gain free general admission to London Zoo, a saving of £15.40 for adults and £11.90 for children.
