Television personality Esther Rantzen tried to gain an insight into what she might have to endure on the latest series of I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! at London Zoo, it has been revealed.
The 68-year-old presenter asked keepers if she could pay a visit and a let a cockroach crawl on her face, reports the Mail on Sunday.
But the keepers refused her request, for fear that the experience could be far too traumatic for the creepy crawly.
"I asked the zookeeper to put a cockroach on my face so I could see what it felt like, but he said it would frighten the cockroach," he told the newspaper.
A keeper at the zoo commented on her Ms Rantzen's unusual request, saying: "We didn’t feel comfortable with it. That show is continually misusing invertebrates."
