The Oyster Travelcard covers all your transport needs whilst sightseeing in London
An Oyster Travelcard gives you unlimited access within central London to the world famous Underground network as well as bus services, overground trains and the DLR. It’s your electronic transport ticket to navigate around the city easily and efficiently - it's the cheapest way to get around London.
What is an Oyster Travelcard and what do I get?
- Unlimited Travel across Central London - you can travel at any time of the day, any day of the week
- Cheapest and most flexible way to travel around London
- Access to all London Transport Networks including London Underground trains (Tube), Buses, Docklands Light Rail and Overground Trains
- No hassle of standing in queues to buy daily tickets, the Oyster Travelcard is your all-inclusive electronic ticket
- Make savings as journeys are capped at a maximum each day so travel after your third journey is free
How does the Oyster Card work?
Each electronic Oyster Travelcard comes pre-loaded with a credit/value to match your London Pass duration. If you buy a London Pass + Travel package, you'll get an Oyster Travelcard assigned with enough credit to cover 2 days of travel with a 2 Day London Pass, 3 days of travel with a 3 day London Pass, 6 days of travel with a 6 day London Pass – and so on.
All you need to do is tap in and out of the ticket barriers to validate your journeys. Thanks to Transport for London's daily credit cap, you will only spend up to a certain amount each day on travel - so you can make as many journeys as you want within 24 hours for a set charge.
TOP TIP: you only need to make three journeys on the Tube before reaching the daily cap - this means all journeys thereafter that day are completely free of charge!
How much does a single journey cost?
A single journey on the London Underground in central London (between zones 1 - 2) costs just £2.90 credit. The maximum credit spend limit is just £6.40 which means if you're sightseeing across the city and making multiple journeys that day, any travel after your third journey won't cost you any credit!
This spend limit also works across all other zones, so if your hotel is further out of the city centre, you still won’t be charged from your third journey onwards; helping your credit stretch even further for the duration of your sightseeing adventure.
If you prefer to travel by bus, journeys with an Oyster Travelcard cost just £1.50 credit. Learn more about how you can save on a daily basis with your Oyster Travelcard.
