This modern building is a faithful reconstruction of the Globe, first built in 1599, and perfectly evokes the atmosphere of Elizabethan London. Resident storytellers on the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Tour and Exhibition introduce visitors to all aspects of the Globe, historical and contemporary, including Sam Wannamaker's epic struggle to recreate the theatre.

Please note: there is no access to the theatre during matinee performances. Tours of Shakespeare's theatre in London being every 30 minutes during opening hours. When the Globe Theatre is in performance please note that the tours go to the archaeological site of the Rose Theatre. Groups of over 15 need to pre-book.
Closures: No tours after 12:30 (museum open): 1st – 11th, 17th – 18th, 20th – 25th & 27th – 31st May inclusive.
