Commissioned by Edward III around 1365, Jewel Tower was originally built to house the King’s personal treasures – hence the name – and had a moat dug around it for extra protection. It was also known as the King’s Privy Wardrobe.
It remains virtually unaltered today and is one of the only two complete buildings remaining from the medieval Palace Of Westminster, the other being Westminster Hall.
Located right across the road from the Houses Of Parliament, the Jewel Tower is right in the middle of one of the key tourist locations with Westminster Abbey and Big Ben both only minutes away by foot.
You can visit this historic attraction for free with a London Pass - a great saving on your sightseeing trip to London. London Pass holders also benefit from:
- Free entry to over 60 top attractions including Tower of London and Windsor Castle
- Free 160+ page Guidebook
- Optional Travelcard with unlimited use of London public transport from zones 1 - 6

"We went to see so much more than if we had to pay individually. Was nice paying for it before the trip so didn't have to bring extra money and worry about running short. We also got the travel pass and restaurant discount book and discovered some very nice places to eat that we wouldn't have known about. Planning on coming back in 2014 and will buy another one! Recommend it 200%!"
