Museum in Docklands

The Museum In Docklands unlocks the history of the River Thames and London as a port, as well as the colourful people that have lived and worked in the Docklands area over the years – you can access it for free with London Pass (normal price of an adult ticket is £5).

Housed in a spectacular early nineteenth century warehouse at West India Quay in the heart of London Docklands, the in Docklands provides a tantalising glimpse into a lost and largely forgotten world.

Originally used to house imports of exotic spices, rum and cotton transported from all over the world to London, the Docklands museum not holds a wealth of items relating both to maritime trade and the history of this unique part of the city, from enormous whale bones to WWII gas masks.

From October 2007, the Docklands museum will feature a permanent gallery exploring the exploring the city’s relationship with the transatlantic slave trade – the only London museum carrying a permanent exhibition of this kind. This London attraction. also has a popular bar and regularly runs special events.
