Visit Henry VIII’s astonishing Thameside palace with its world famous gardens for free with London Pass – but don’t get lost in the maze.
Hampton Court Palace is one of the most breathtaking of all the London palaces – the fantastic riverside location, awe-inspiring gardens and incredible works of art make this a must-see attraction for any London visitors interested in experiencing the sheer grandeur of the British monarchy at its most powerful.
Originally established by Cardinal Wolsey and extended by Henry VIII (who spent the equivalent of £18 million making this into the most lavish London palace of its day), Hampton Court, London (not to be confused with Hampton Court in Herefordshire) combines Tudor influence with the later baroque additions of William III and Mary II.
While the art collections and gardens are renowned, Hampton Court Palace is also a leading centre for study into food in history. On the first weekend of every month at Hampton Palace you can experience the sights, sounds and smells of the great Tudor kitchens as historians recreate the dishes prepared for Henry VIII (a monarch famed for his many appetites!) and experiment with the delicacies of the day.
If you’re in need of some refreshment at any other time, London Pass holders also receive a 20% discount on any purchase in the Tiltyard Café and Privy Kitchen.
If you enjoyed Hampton Court Palace why not consider visiting some of the other London palaces and tourist attractions such as Kensington Palace and Eltham Palace or the Queen’s residence at Windsor Castle.
