Windsor Castle - a beautiful place for London city pass holders
Last Updated: Sun 29 Jun 2008

London travel card-holding visitors to the nation's capital may like to explore the tranquil and majestic Windsor Castle.

Officially the formal residence of the Queen, Windsor Castle also enjoys its status as the world's largest inhabited castle.

Thankfully, the castle has now recovered from a fire which struck in 1992.

"Visitors can walk around the State Apartments, extensive suites of rooms at the heart of the working palace," noted the castle's website.

"For part of the year visitors can also see the Semi State rooms, which are some of the most splendid interiors in the castle."

Given that Windsor Castle has been both a fortress and a domestic dwelling for close to 1,000 years, this complex's history is vast - indeed, the castle has also been home to a considerable number of Royal weddings.

London Pass holders can receive free entry to Windsor Castle.
