Things to do in London: Remember the war deadA two minutes silence is to be held at 11:00 GMT today as part of the Greater London Authority's Annual Service of Remembrance for London's war dead.
The service, in the Chamber at City Hall, will be accompanied by an exhibition to mark the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War, focusing on the service of London County Council staff and other London public employees during that war.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson and chair of the London Assembly, Darren Johnson AM, will be amongst those laying wreaths at the City Hall War Memorial.
There are many things to do in London to remember those that died in war. The Britain at War Experience recreates the London Blitz with special effects highlighting the sights and sounds, the artefacts and even the dust and smoke of an air raid at its height.
Visitors can take a lift to the London Underground air raid shelter and see where thousands spent sleepless nights.
