Things to do in London: Ice skate at the National History Museum

Visitors to London can embrace winter at the Natural History Museum Ice Rink, which opened last week.

The 1,050 sq m ice rink is on the museum's east lawn and an ice bridge links it to a junior rink for younger skaters.

There is a viewing platform where those not in the mood for skating can watch friends and family skate or enjoy a hot chocolate or a glass of mulled wine in the Cafe Bar.

Skating sessions last for an hour and visitors are advised to arrive 30 minutes before their session to collect their skates.

The ice rink will be at the museum until January 17th.

South Kensington is the closest tube stop to the museum but many London attractions and other things to see in London are within walking distance.

The Royal Albert Hall, built in 1871 as a multipurpose building to host not only music concerts but exhibitions, public meetings, scientific conversations and award ceremonies, is just a ten minute walk from the museum.
