Save on London sightseeing and stay in the UK to holiday
Last Updated: Fri 21 Aug 2009

People are staying at home to holiday this year, it has been said, and in doing so are able to control their costs.

Spokesperson for Hoseasons Peter Joyner revealed the weakness of the pound is encouraging people to stay in the UK, which may include taking a trip to see London attractions.

"They still want their holiday but they want tighter control over the budget they are going to be allowing themselves," he suggested.

Staying in the UK is perceived as a better way of controlling a budget than heading off overseas, Mr Joyner added.

The seasonally adjusted number of visits to the UK rose four per cent during April to June 2009, when compared with the previous three months, recent figures showed.

In the 12-month period to June, the number of visits abroad by UK residents, not seasonally adjusted, decreased by ten per cent.
