Save on London attractions when heading to the capital this bank holiday
Last Updated: Thu 27 Aug 2009

With millions of people expected to take a holiday in England this bank holiday, it is as important as ever to save on London attractions.

A survey from VisitEngland found that 11.9 million people will be heading to various locations throughout the UK, which may include a trip to the English capital.

"All of our research so far this year and anecdotal evidence from the industry confirm that Britons are indeed rediscovering the joys of holidaying at home in 2009," commented James Berresford, chief executive of VisitEngland.

He said that people will find there is plenty to do in England, whether it is a cultural city break in somewhere like London or a visit to a seaside resort.

Of those set to holiday in the UK over this coming weekend, 20 per cent will be heading to England, making it the most popular destination.

The seasonally-adjusted number of visits to the UK rose four per cent between April and June, official figures recently revealed.
