Role of women in wartime leader's life revealed

The role played by the important women in the life of one of Britain most revered political leaders is to be revealed in a fascinating new lecture.
Churchill's Women will explore how a number of strong and influential women in the great wartime leader's life help shaped him and his career.
Sir Winston Churchill served as the prime minster of Britain during the second world war and became respected all around the world for his strong leadership, iron will and rhetorical skill when addressing parliament and the nation.
The lecture is to be given by Professor Geoffrey Best, who is a leading expert on Churchill's life, at the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms on November 21st.
It will examine the conflict between the crucial role women played in his private life and the public perception that they existed merely on his periphery.
Part of The Chuchill Lecture Series, which runs until May 2009, this investigation will delve into a lesser-known aspect of the former prime minister's life.
