Oyster travel card accepted on Thames boats
Last Updated: Tue 24 Nov 2009

People considering buying an Oyster card to use on transport when visiting London may be interested to hear that their travel pass will, as of today, also be accepted on the Thames Clipper River services.

Tourists will find it quicker and easier to visit some London attractions that line the river Thames, such as Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Tour and Exhibition.

The exhibition is under the Globe itself and explores the life of Shakespeare and what London was like when he lived there. The tour reveals the story of the reconstruction of the theatre and its history.

Those planning to stay in Greater London will also benefit as Oyster cards can be used on all commuter routes as of January 2nd 2009.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "I am delighted to be able to announce that the Oysterisation of all London's commuter rail services is to become a reality. This combined with the news about Thames Clippers services means Oyster will be all over the capital."

He added that it will be the "only ticket" that people will need to get around the city.
