Much-loved cartoonist given retrospective

The artist behind some of the nation's best-loved newspaper cartoons, Giles, is the subject of a new retrospective exhibition at London's Cartoon Museum.
Giles, One of the Family, will run from November 5th to February 8th 2009, with treats in store for cartoon fans and those new to the medium alike.
Ronald Giles drew cartoons for the Express newspapers for nearly 50 years, with the first edition of his Young Ernie strip appearing in 1943.
Giles was voted Britain's favourite cartoonist of the 20th century and the new exhibition is to feature more than 80 original drawings, currently held at the National Cartoon Archive.
The cartoonist's studio in his home in Ipswich will be recreated to give visitors a sense of how the man lived and worked and an insight into the space in which he created so much of his memorable work.
Visitors to the Cartoon Museum in London's West End can gain free entry with their LondonPass, saving £4 on the adult price.
