London Zoo welcomes baby meerkats
Last Updated: Sat 2 May 2009

Two new meerkat pups mark the latest addition to London Zoo after being abandoned by their mother.

Called Lia and Roo, the pair were left to fend for themselves shortly after they were born in mid-March, with zookeepers taking them into care.

Suzi Hyde, one of the zookeepers at the London attraction, has taken on the role of looking after the meerkats and cares for them day and night.

"They are doing very well; at first it was quite difficult getting up with them every few hours but now they are developing their own little personalities," she revealed.

Lia is said to be much more laid-back than Roo, who is more interested in being mischievous and trying to adopt the "meerkat lookout pose".

With the London Pass, tourists can visit London Zoo saving £15.40 on the usual price of an adult's ticket and £11.90 on a child's.ADNFCR-1693-ID-19149946-ADNFCR
