London Zoo residents have a fear of pinkTwo of London Zoo's newest residents are causing a stir at the attraction as it has emerged they are afraid of the colour pink.
The flamingo chicks - known as Little and Large - are being raised by zoo staff who have noticed their aversion to the colour.
Keeper Allison Brown said: "We'll just have to hope they get used to the colour pink, but I'm sure it won't be a problem. Once Little gets his own pink colour he'll be fine."
The staff have also been encouraging the young flamingos to feed themselves with the aid of a sock puppet, she revealed, although this has so far proved unsuccessful.
Flamingos tend not to gain their pink colour until later in life, by which stage the London Zoo staff hope the twosome will have grown out of their fear.
