Visitors planning their trips to London attractions can add to their experiences by visiting some of the royal palaces.

Those making their way to the summer opening of the Buckingham Palace should make the most their visit by strolling around the Royal Mews.

The Royal Mews are one of the world's most exquisite working stables and include both horse-driven carriages alongside the most modern cars that are used by the British Royalty.

These vehicles are used by the Queen and other members of the royal family to attend various family events as well as official engagements.

One of the star attractions at the stables is the astonishing gold carriage that was used by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip to attend the thanksgiving service in St Paul's Cathedral to commemorate the Queens Golden Jubilee in 2002.

Back at Buckingham Palace, visitors can also visit The Queen's Year exhibition which hosts some of the splendid outfits and dresses worn by Her Majesty for royal ceremonies.
