Dennis the Menace visits the Cartoon Museum
Last Updated: Thu 31 Jul 2008

Fans of the popular children's comic the Beano were in for a treat when one of its stars, Dennis the Menace, popped in for a visit to the Cartoon Museum.

The mischievous cartoon creation made his appearance to kick off the Gnashional Menace Day to celebrate the 70th birthday of the Beano, reports the Press Association.

In addition to celebrating one of the UK's much-loved comics, the anniversary will be used to raise money for the CLIC Sargent cancer charity.

Stuart Barbar, a spokesman for CLIC Sargent, commented: "The Beano is the iconic children's comic and we are the children's cancer charity, so it's a good fit."

Alan Digby, the editor of the Beano, said that while Dennis is not the perfect role model for kids, he does cheer people and lift their spirits with his pranks and antics.

Chris Chang, a 12-year-old visitor to the museum, said:" It was really fun to have met [Dennis]. I would want to be friends with him because he's so cheeky and naughty."

London Pass holders can receive free entry to the Cartoon Museum.
