Britain bakes as heatwave warning is raised
Last Updated: Thu 2 Jul 2009

Climbing temperatures across the UK have led the Met Office to raise its heatwave warning level.

London and the south-east in particular have been affected by the hot weather, which looks set to continue throughout today (July 2nd).

Head of health forecasting at the Met Office Wayne Elliott said: "If possible stay out of the heat during the middle part of the day; cool yourself down; keep your environment cool and look out for others, especially older people, those living alone and babies and young children."

Conditions may become fresher over the weekend, the body predicts, with temperatures expected to peak over the next 24 hours.

Night time temperatures have not fallen below 18 degrees C in some areas, which has helped maintain the warm weather during the day.

Anyone enjoying the hot weather in the capital at the moment can take advantage of the London Pass to make the most of their visit as it gives free entry to a whole host of top attractions.ADNFCR-1693-ID-19246960-ADNFCR
